Force Multiplyer

Washington County ARES (WCARES) provides trained amateur radio volunteers to support emergency communications when conventional systems are overloaded or fail. Our services include establishing backup radio networks for hospitals, shelters, and public safety agencies; deploying portable stations in the field; and offering digital messaging through Winlink and APRS. We partner closely with local emergency management, fire, law enforcement, and public health to ensure resilient, reliable communication across suburban, rural, and river valley areas. WCARES stands ready to deliver critical connectivity during severe weather, flooding, and community emergencies.

Emergency Communications Support

WCARES provides reliable backup communications during disasters or system failures. Our trained amateur radio operators establish voice and digital networks to connect emergency management, hospitals, shelters, and public safety agencies when conventional systems are overloaded or unavailable.

Hospital and Healthcare Connectivity

We maintain radio links for hospitals, clinics, and public health facilities to ensure continuity of care during emergencies. WCARES operators deliver critical patient status updates, supply requests, and coordination messages using both voice and digital modes.

Shelter and Community Event Coverage

WCARES supports temporary shelters and large public gatherings by providing on‑site communication teams. Our operators ensure coordination between shelter staff, logistics, and emergency services, helping protect vulnerable populations during severe weather or community crises.

Digital Messaging Services

Through Winlink, APRS, and other digital modes, WCARES enables secure and efficient transmission of email, forms, and situational reports. This ensures rapid information flow between agencies, even when internet or cellular networks are disrupted.
