Simulated Emergency Test (SET) for Washington County Scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 9-11 AM
ARES members have chosen sites to staff and will communicate from those locations for the Simulated Emergency Test on Saturday, October 5th. The choice of a location is from a list of agencies with whom we have Memorandum's Of Understanding (MOU's). The purposes of the SET are these: (1) To find out the strengths and weaknesses of ARES, NTS, RACES and other groups providing emergency communications, (2) To provide a public demonstration of the value to the public that Amateur Radio provides, particularly in time of need, and (3) To help amateur radio operators gain experience in communications using standard procedures and training, including digital modes of communications. This drill simulates loss of infrastructure such as phones, text services, and agency communications services. Remember, THIS IS A DRILL.
